Target audience
All thrillers are classifies between 12, 15 and 18.
12A
12A ( A standing for accompanied and advisory) rated films are films that anybody aged 12 and over can go see the film without the company of an adult. Children under the age of 12 can watch the film if they are accompanied by an adult (someone who is 18 plus)
15
Nobody under the age of 15 can watch a 15 rated film at the cinema. They are also not permitted to buy or rent a 15 rated DVD. 15 rated films are not suitable for children under the age of 15.
18
Films rated 18 are for adults. Nobody under the age of 18 is allowed to view an 18 rated film at the cinema. Nobody under the age of 18 can buy or rent an 18 rated DVD. No rated 18 works are suitable for children
Target audiences change depending on sub-genres. In a target audience there are three main categories; gender, age and social class.
Psychological thrillers tend to aim for adults as a target audience however sub genres such as horror thrillers tend to aim for teenagers.
